Everyone is used to seeing him in his dandy riding outfit...*snicker*...but as 'Maru takes over the ancient Collective, he becomes an important figurehead...hence the courtly robes.
He is appointed the King of the Ancient Ones, the timeless enemies of Aszynthe and its mortal populace. Through Kimihana's dreams, he gains access to the physical realm. He enslaves the girl and uses her abilities to lead his dark brethren across the ethereal border between the realms, shattering the balance between all three worlds.
His goal is to obliterate all mortal kind, taking the planet over for himself and his followers. He dreams of destroying the great Fire God Kyonei, the creator of Azsynthe--after punishing It for its ancient misdeeds against the Collective.
'Maru is an incubus, a demon who preys off of sleeping mortals. He seizes energy through their dreams, enhancing the pleasure of both himself and his victim, right before the mortal's untimely demise. As he spends more and more time in the physical realm, his mind becomes more and more unbalanced. He starts to take more devious and grisly methods in achieving his own gain. He uses bloodshed and torment for his amusement, each session of gore an experiment in pleasure and pain.
Only Kimihana, her champion Sascha, and the avatars can defeat him. But only if they can somehow manage to cooperate with each other.
DAMN, you could get lost in those. *wink wink nudge-nudge* X3 Lets just hope he doesn't have to fight anyone in those. They look uber heavy. ;3;
One question, though. If Akiramaru gets his sustinence from mortals, why would he want to destroy them? D: Unless he had a bad experience with a mortal being and got a VD! Oh no! ;3; Poor Akiramaru.

Ah haha, well glad you asked. Akiramaru didn't start out as a dream demon, oh, no. That only happened after Kyonei imprisoned him and his brethren in the Dream World. Eventually they began to manifest themselves as nightmarish creatures and 'Maru...evolved.
Now that he lives in the physical realm, he doesn't NEED to feed off of mortal energy. He just chooses to, for the entertainment factor. And once the entire race is wiped out...well, he still has Kimi.
hee hee...VD. boy, that WOULD make him pissy, I imagine.

Heh heh, I KNOW we've had this conversation, before. YES, an incubus is a demon that rapes women in their sleep. And the original definition of such is implicated in 'Maru's description..."a demon who preys off of sleeping mortals. He seizes energy through their dreams, enhancing the pleasure of both himself and his victim, right before the mortal's untimely demise"...
But yeah, the way you put it works, too. Ummmm, yeah. He DOES look out of character, here, but in the book, he isn't all fun and games, either. He does rule the Collective, and even manages to convice an entire nation of sikaurai that the Collective is a rising sovereignty (over which he rules wit an iron fist) and that they would do well to ally their forces against Kimi's people.
(I know, I know...shaddup, right?)

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
